There is a bold new vision for
the Pleasant View Site!

To better tell the Pleasant View story and make the site more accessible, structural improvements are urgently needed.

The Pleasant View Historic Site was once the center of the African American community of Quince Orchard, MD. It continues to stand as a testament to our history – a memorial to our triumph – and we, as a community, must refuse to let it be forgotten. Our mission is to preserve, maintain, and protect this three-acre site to African American history and culture in order to educate present and future generations. We will provide people with the lessons learned through education, faith, and traditions that make a strong community.

We have already raised more than $500,000 and with your help will be ensure that Pleasant View stands for the next 150 years, providing people with the lessons learned through education, faith, and traditions that make a strong community. When we reach our fundraising goal, we'll be able to shape a bright future for the Pleasant View historical site.

With your support we will stabilize the church building and schoolhouse and restore these historic buildings to their original beauty. We will rebuild a third building that was lost to fire to house memorabilia and artifacts illustrative of the African American experience in Quince Orchard, MD.

Soon, this site will once again promote educational and cultural programs that will allow children, youth, and adults to explore a collective heritage, create a fabric of a beloved community, and unite as one people.
